Congratulations on your wedding

I got butterflies in my stomach and somehow it got transferred on to the card ;). I rarely put butterflies on my cards but for this one it just seems so suitable and I couldn't help but adding them along side the focal point of the card which is the heart shape paper doily that I got from WholePort.

I've been wanting to do this type of swing card for the longest time and I'm super excited about being able to get it done in the end. It's a see-through type of swing card! hehe! Peekaboo! :D

I used the Yellow quilling paper strips from WholePort to make the quilled heart. I'm getting used to using the 5mm quilling strips....it's not that bad after all. But of course the 3mm type is my personal favourite.

Ok! Sewing on paper like this is therapy for me lately. I just love doing this technique. Not sure if I'll ever get bored doing it one day though. For now it's just bliss!! Even better when using the embroidery thread :).

I also love the lace I used to decorate on the front part of the card. I got that one from WholePort too. I'm just using up all the products I got from them. Fun playing with all the goodies. ;)

Selamat Pengantin Baru

I was requested to make this wedding card and I couldn't be happier about it because it's a little different from what I've done before. Every time I create a new card, I try to either implement something that I've tried before and make it better or I use a new technique or material.

For this card, it's a combination of all that and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. It's been a while since I last made those quilled love birds too. Every time I make them, they'll turn out a little different because it's handmade. So it's bound to have a character of it's own. First time ever to have them on a swing card too! Weeehooo!!

This is my first time trying out one of the packs of quilling paper that I got from WholePort. It's smooth on the sides and it's a bit wide, which is about 5mm in width and the length is about 54cm. It's called the Rose Red Quilling paper.  This is my first time using a 5mm quilling paper too. Usually I just use the shredded A4 paper for my quilling projects. And the width is usually about 3.5mm.

It's the first time for me to quill using my new beads slotted quilling tool too on my new card. It may not be the best quilling tool to use since it's handmade, but it does function as a quilling tool and I was able to make those quilling decorations on the card using it. So I'm quite satisfied with it so far:).

I managed to use a few of the brass charms that I got from WholePort too. The latest one I got is that love pendant. It's really pretty....love how it looks on the card. You can check out the pendants at the links here:
1. Believe in love charm
2. Live your dream charm
3. Love pendant

I gotta say that making swing cards nowadays is a must for me. I just love them so much. I do miss making pop up cards though. It's something I seriously have to think about doing in the next few months. I do hope that I'll have time to do all that I wish and miss so dearly.

Do check out my video here.....I took a video of the card so that you can view how the card swings in motion. ;)

Using scraps of quilling strips

07:05 |

If you are just like me......someone who uses a paper shredder to make quilling strips, I'll bet you have a lot of scraps of these quilling strips available from all the shredding. I know I do! Lots of them!! Currently I have 2 garbage bags full of them! haha!

I don't like to throw the good scraps of quilling strips away each time I shred paper. So I keep them in case I have ideas for future projects. The scraps of quilling strips can still be used but they had to be processed first. I had to sort them out one by one and cut out the ends that were not usable and used the good parts of the quilling strips in order to make these flowers you see above.

I just got the idea of how to do it this afternoon and kept on making them because I loved how they looked. Each flower has 2 different colour of quilling paper. Each colour paper were cut the same length and were joined together piece by piece. Although it took a little extra time for me to join each piece of the short quilling strips together to get one long strip of quilling paper, I didn't mind it at all. It was all worth the trouble.

So, after I formed a long strip of quiling paper, I used the combing technique to create these flowers.

The best part of this little project was that I felt good being able to finally reuse the scraps of quilling strips. ;) Waste not, want not ;)

Creating cascading loops

08:40 |

Ok....it's official....I'm addicted to using this quilling comb!! I've been combing these flowers non stop. I should stop and concentrate on finishing up my card orders! haha! I'm just super excited that's all......it's like having a new toy and I just can't stop playing with it. I just found out another technique from the internet that I can do using the quilling comb and that's how it looks. I love it! Here's some more below. The one below is the one I tried making in the beginning and the one on top is the one I did later on. I got to make the petals in that shape just by pushing the ends of the petals inwards, thus making it broader in shape.

It's actually very very easy to do and I've taken some photos of how I made the petals. Have a look at them below. I hope you can understand how it is done just by looking at those step by step photos of the combing technique and try making the flowers yourself using the quilling comb :). You can also view this video tutorial I made on how to make these cascading loops. Do check it out! ;)

STEP 1

STEP 2

STEP 3

STEP 4

STEP 5
*As you can see at the photo above, every time I slip the quilling strips through the comb I would put some white glue at the bottom part so that each loop would stick at the ends and so the loops won't get loose easily.

STEP 6

The final result.......a petal.....which can also be turned into a leaf if you use green quilling strips. :)

I also tried to use two different sizes of petals in one flower and I used two different type of colours too. There is no limit to what we can do with this technique......we can also combine different colours in one petal too! I have yet to try that, but will do so soon! hihi! Below is the last flower I did for today. :) So happy!!

Shredded quilling paper

03:23 |

Since last year, I've been quilling using quilling paper that I shred myself using the mini paper shredder. You can view how I keep my quilling paper at the link HERE.

A lot of people keep asking me if I sell the shredded quilling paper and lately I've been thinking of doing so! I myself have never used quilling paper that are machine cut for any of my handmade cards, and that is why you can see that each quilled shapes I make have those rough edges. It's all because of the effects it gets from the paper shredder.

It was not easy though for me to figure out how to arrange those shredded paper in those plastic casings for sale, but I finally found a way that was easy for me to do it. Sometimes I find it therapeutic to arrange them nicely in those plastic casings believe it or not haha! I guess it teaches me to be patient and discipline and more organized in the process. So now I don't keep my quilling paper like how I did before. I keep them in this new technique I found and I find it so satisfying to see them so organized like those photos you see below hehe!

I think these shredded quilling strips are suitable for beginners too. First timers who are still learning how to quill will find this shredded quilling strips as a good deal for them :).

Quilling paper!!

03:14 |

Gosh! I feel like it has been so so so long since I last saw my blog in a big screen! For the past few days now I've been looking at it through my small hand phone screen. I tried to blog using the hand phone but it seems to be taking so long to type a few words...and I just lost my patience. :P Right now I'm at my aunt's house and blogging using her laptop. Thank God! hehe! I'm still having problems with my PC ....not sure yet when it will be resolved. :(

I just wanted to update the blog today by saying a million thanks to my dear fellow blogger Cheryl for sending me this wonderful and lovely gifts! I received it a couple of days ago. I knew she was sending me something but didn't know what it was and what a lovely surprise it is! I received two sets of Acid Free Quilling paper from her! I love love love the colors she chose for me! Even my Mom loved it too! I feel very very blessed indeed! Thank you so much Cheryl!!! :)

I haven't the slightest clue of  what I want to create with them yet......hehehe! But I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough. At least during times away from the PC I get to create more cards in my studio and spend more time experimenting with new ideas. I really miss blogging......huhuhuhu....and I'm so happy I get to blog today! Yippeeeee! hehehe....please excuse me for being silly once in a while hehe! :D

Bubye for now......hope to blog here again soon! ;) Happy reading!!
